Time for a proper vocal booth solution

Having got my RODE NTK back in perfect working condition, I realised that I needed a better vocal booth solution than the one I had. Put simply, the NTK picks up everything! I have been kind of spoilt by the SM7B because it has such good rejection and still has a great sound, but the NTK is better for the VO type work but needs the booth. So, I invested in B-stock folding double panels from GIK Acoustics in Bradford. They weigh a hefty 20 kg each, but they are filled with rock wool and are great at deadening a wide range of frequencies. The other nice thing about having movable gobos is that I can position them behind me when teaching a class or doing computer based vocal work… That way, it keeps external noises to a minimum, even with the SM7B. I kind of wish I’d done this a long time ago…
